After 10-weeks of intensive training on Digital Marketing and eCommerce in Surigao City,25 scholars finished the course and 24 emerged as medalists during its graduation ceremony on November 6, 2019 held at the Livelihood Training and Productivity Center, Surigao City.
According to the social media post by the office of the Municipal Information and Communications Office (MICO) of Surigao City, “Surigao is no. 1 in the Philippines with 100% completion and no. 1 in the Philippines with 24 medalists.”
This is the first time in the entire country that the said training reached such numbers under the Digital Jobs PH program. Digital Marketing and eCommerce course.

Digital Marketing Training in Surigao, Philippines
The 10-weeks training organized by the DICT-Mindanao Cluster 2 is in partnership with the City Government of Surigao and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Surigao del Norte.
The scholars have 14 face-to-face sessions and 21-day campaigns spread in 10 weeks.
All 25 scholars have been trained with the required skill set:
- branding for companies, products and services
- web development
- product photography and content writing
- customer relationship management and email follow through
- data privacy
- cybercrime law
- digital marketing ethics
- search engine optimization
- email marketing
- social media content planning and calendar
- business blogging
- social media content creation
- building a successful freelancer profile
All these have enabled them to aid the participating Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in promoting their products online to become more profitable and present in the market.
“Today we are not scholars anymore…today we are business partners”. Joel Navarette, medalist, addressed his heartfelt gratitude to the MSMEs who have been very supportive.
“For us MSMEs, it’s just wishful thinking that we can have a website, because we know that having [one] is expensive and also because we lack resources and the skill to do it. Then I woke up one day receiving a text from DTI informing me about this training, and I thank God because that wishful thinking is now a reality.” – Woodrow C. Escobal Jr., owner of JB Nature Farm and Resort, expressed how the training will sustain and nurture their business.

With these skills, the trainees were able to promote the products of the participating local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) online.
Thus, helping these businesses present themselves in the digital market and gain more profit.
Given their newly acquired skills through the DigitalJobsPH training, the participants are now able to build a strong and lasting relationship with the MSMEs.
Joel Navarette even addressed his gratitude to the MSMEs who have been very supportive by saying, “Today we are not scholars anymore… today we are business partners.”
